Agriculture, Atmosphere and Work ‘The Queen of the Night’ is an investigation into some of the world's noctural plants. Sleeping, conserving and collecting energy during the day and flowering with intensity, usually for one day, and one night only in the summer months, the project recreates optimum conditions in order for their species to survive and flourish. Access is via a landscape of Solar Energy Conversion Systems (SECS) receivers, directing the user into the Laboratory and young Flowering Park on different levels and temperates. The nocturnal house will be dormant during the day, whilst activity is minimal, a place for the bats to recover from a night of pollinating and feasting on the insects. The Bat shelters are leafless tree structures, with pockets warm enough to accommodate thousands of nesting bats. The Queen of the Night is a plant shaped tower that accommodates a single alien plant. Conditions are set between 25oC to 45oC ranging from Desert to rainforest conditions.
