| Set in Greenhithe, Kent, the project explore the rapid development of the area and its relationship to the Thames. The project proposes to create something both musical and beautiful, a sound to replace the former industrial noises of the area. The scheme proposes long tensile rigid steel rope to be anchored to the river wall, off which golden buoys are fixed. These buoys are arranged in a pattern promoting collision and hence sound. The collection of sounds create an orchestra, where sonic transducers allow the buoys themselves to be the speakers, limited only by the tide and currents on the Thames. It is intended to encourage residents to identify with the river...On stormy nights, the orchestra will be loud and violent, on still afternoons, the orchechestra will be virtually silent. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
